This week in Reading, we read the story “Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten” and discussed how people in a community cooperate. We have finished the entire alphabet and continued working with syllables, rhyming and blending and started work with classifying and categorizing.  In Math, we were tested on our position words: inside, outside, above, below, and on and mastered our left and right.

Next week, we will begin reading the story “Smash! Crash!” and we will discuss friendship.  We will be discussing character, as well as initial and final sounds. We will be learning all about the letter Mm as in Monkey! In Math, we will start working on geometry skills: making shapes from other shapes, comparing solid figures, and building with solid figures.

Reminders:
  •     Monday, October 5th is a "Blue Out" in recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month. Students are permitted to wear a blue shirt and jeans to school to show support for this cause.
  •     Friday, October 9th is a half day for students and there will be no school on Monday, October 12th.
  •     Please continue to have your child practice their sight words as part of their nightly homework. We are doing an excellent job so far – I am super proud.
  •     Please continue to read at home with your child and complete the AR log in your child’s folder, if you choose to do so. I am very happy with the turn-out & the kids seem to really enjoy the books. Thank you to all who participate!

Monday, October 5th, will be Day 5 and we will have GYM.
