This week we finished reading the story “Farfallina and Marcel” and talked about what happens when animals change. We reviewed the letter Ff and discussed plot (what happens at the beginning, middle, and end of a story). We took a close look at caterpillars and the changes that they undergo to become a butterfly. Next week, we will be reading the story “Then and Now” and learning about how things we use today are different from things we used long ago. 
In Math, we continued work with counting and writing numbers 11-20. Next week, we will be tested on numbers 11-20 and will then start our unit on numbers to 100.
In Science, we continued our unit on “Objects” and grouping objects based on their composition and characteristics.

This week we will be reading the story "Farfallina and Marcel" and discussing what happens when animals change. We will be focusing on the letter Ff as in fish! We will continue working with the words see and look. Our amazing words for the week are goose, caterpillar, reflection, gosling, butterfly, and cocoon and we will be working with plot.

In Math, we will be counting, writing, and saying numbers 11-20.

In Science, we will continue our unit on "Objects" and their composition and characteristics. We will be discussing our five senses, what objects are made of, and how we can sort them.

This week in Reading, we will be reading the story "George Washington Visits" and discussing how life today is different from life hundreds of years ago. We will be learning about the letters Dd and Kk & doing our Dinosaur projects! We will also learn two new words: see, look. Our new skill for the story is cause and effect.

In Math, we will be tested on comparing and ordering numbers 0-10. We will also be starting Unit 5: counting, reading, and writing numbers to 20.

In Science, we will be re-introducing our new unit on "Objects." We will be discussing what objects are made of and their characteristics.

Miss Woodring and I wish you a happy and healthy New Year!

This week in Reading, we will be reading the story "Little Quack" and discussing what new things a duckling learns as it grows. Our letter of the week is Rr. We will be reviewing realism and fantasy, plot, and sequence. We will also be touching on verbs.

In Math, we will be getting more practice with comparing and ordering numbers 0-10. We will be testing on Thursday! Friday we will start introducing numbers up to 20.

In Science, we will be starting our unit on "Objects." We will discuss what objects are made of and their characteristics.

Last week we finished our story “Little Panda.” We reviewed the letters Nn and Bb and practiced using verbs.

We also did some fun activities last week to get into the Christmas spirit. We made a cookie plate for Santa, a snowman ornament for your tree, snowflakes made out of popsicle sticks, and a replica of Rudolph. All projects will be sent home today!

We took a trip to the high school on Thursday to see the high school chorus and band perform their Christmas show. The students had a great time.

This week, we will continue to do some Christmas/Winter activities & enjoy our Polar Express day.

Reminders:
  • There will be no AR books sent home on Tuesday due to the long Christmas break, but your child is encouraged to read other books!
  • Tuesday, December 23rd, will be Polar Express Day for Kindergarten. Students are encouraged to wear their pajamas!!
  • Dismissal will begin at 1:00 for students on Tuesday.

Last week in Reading, we began reading  the story “Little Panda” and discussed a panda’s first year of life. Our letters of the week were Nn and Bb!  In Math, we began comparing numbers 0-10. In Science, we finished up our chapter on the Earth and Sky. We discussed the day time sky, the night time sky, different features of Earth & the sun, and kinds of weather.

This week, we will continue to read “Little Panda.” We will continue to work with the letters Nn and Bb, and get more practice with verbs. We will also master our three new words: me, with, she. In Math, we will continue comparing numbers 0-10. We will also be doing lots of fun Christmas/Winter Activities.


REMINDERS:
  • ·      Please remember to send back the AR books every day with your child & fill out the December Log.
  • ·      Please be sure that your child is wearing a heavy coat, gloves, and hat to school every day, we go outside for recess!
  • ·      TUESDAY, December 23rd, will be Polar Express Day for Kindergarten. Students are encouraged to wear their pajamas!! More information will be sent home today!
